Malaysian delegation calls on UGC Chairman

A delegation comprising eleven members from the Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) and Immigration Department of Malaysia called on Professor Abdul Mannan, Chairman, University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh on 17 April 2018. Haji Mohd Zaki Bin Zakaria, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, EMGS led the Malaysian delegation.

Professor Abdul Mannan warmly welcomed the delegation and said Bangladesh has a close ties with Malaysia since our independence. He appraised the delegation about the role of UGC in the higher edducation sector of Bangladesh and various activities undertaken to ensure quality higher education at the univerisities.

Mr. Zkaria, also the Senior Director of International Student Management Services, Malaysia emphasized the need for recruiting quality students from Bangladesh to universities in Malaysia. He also said Malaysian government is working to ensure quality education to the foreign students including Bangladesh. He also mentioned that over 85 thousand Bangladeshi students were enrolled in higher educational institutions in Malaysia during 2013-2018.

The visiting delegation expressed their desire to work closley with UGC and in future sign an MoU with UGC.

Professors Dr. Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah, Dr. Dil Afroza Begum, Dr. M. Shah Nowaz Ali, Members, UGC; Abdur Rezzaque, Director, Planning and Development Division, Dr. Shamsul Arefin, Additional Director, Public Relations, Dr. Md Fakhrul Islam, Additional Director, International Cooperation and Collaboration, Md. Shahin Siraj, Deputy Secretary, UGC, among others were present.
