UGC to award Prime Minister Gold Medal to 165 students

University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh will award the Prime Minister Gold Medal-2017 to 165 meritorious students from public and private universities in recognition of their academic achievements.

The decision was taken at the Steering Committee meeting held at UGC on 08 May 2018 with Professor Abdul Mannan, Chairman, UGC in the Chair. In his speech, UGC Chaiman said that the gold medals will be awarded to 165 students (163 from public and 02 from private universities) for securing the highest marks / CGPA in their respective faculties.

He further said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expted to hand over the gold medals among the talented students as the Chief Guest of the ceremony. The Prime Minister Gold Medal awarding ceremony under the auspices of UGC will be held at a convenient time of the Prime Minister.

UGC Members Professor Dr. Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah, Professor Dr. Dil Afroza Begum, Professor Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain, Professor Dr. M. Shah Nowaz Ali; Dr. Md. Khaled, Secretary, UGC and divisional heads, among others, were present at the meeting.

The Prime Minister Gold Medal was introduced in 2005 as an effort to encourage the talented students of the universities in the country.
