UGC Chairman visits Rangamati Science and Technology University campus site

As a part of three-day visit beginning January 29 to Rangamati Science and Technology University the UGC Chairman, Professor Abdul Mannan visited the permanent site of the university in Rangamati, addressed the faculty members and the students of the university. He was received at the temporary office of the university by the Vice-chancellor Dr. Pradanendu Bikash Chakma and the faculty members. The University which started its academic programmes in November of 2015 is currently housed in a part of   Shah Multipurpose High School.  The university currently has about two hundred students enrolled in two departments, Department of Management and Department of Computer Science, with only eight faculty members. In the meantime sixty-four acres of land has been acquired by the government from the local land owners. After the completion of the process of land acquisition the construction of the infrastructure and academic and administrative buildings will soon begin the UGC Chairman expected. Professor Mannan also met the cross section of local community leaders, the high officials of district administration including the DC, the local Brigade Commander of the Bangladesh Army and the Superintendent of Police. The UGC Chairman sought the co-operation of all concerned in making the local university a centre of excellence. The community leaders, the faculty members and the students hailed the initiative of the UGC and its chairman.
