Fab Lab a platform for enhancing the innovative thinking among young generation: UGC Chairman

Inaugural ceremony of a two-day workshop on ‘Stimulate the Innovation Using the Fab Lab Network’ was held at UGC auditorium today (11.07.2017). Professor Abdul Mannan, Chairman, UGC graced the function as the Chief Guest. Professor Dr. Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah, Member, UGC presided over the function. Professor Dr. Dil Afroza Begum, Member, UGC was also present. Dr. Gauranga Chandra Mohanta ndc, Project Director (Additional Secretary), Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP), Dr. Md. Mokhlesur Rahman, Senior Operations Officer, World Bank and Ms. Yoko Nagashima, Senior Education Specialist, World Bank were present as Special Guests on the occasion.  Mr. Ashiv Shah, Head of TIFAC, India was present on the occasion as resource person. Mr. Sohel Ahmed, Deputy Project Director, HEQEP delivered the welcome address.

UGC Chairman, in his speech said that Fab Lab (Fabrication Laboratory) is a platform for enhancing the innovative and creative thinking among the young generation and Bangladesh needs a lot of innovation from the country’s youth force. Fab Lab networking will inspire our young generation for innovation and creative new ideas in science and technology. Students, teachers and researchers of the universities and the industry will be immensely benefited by using Fab-Lab.  

He further said that education should not be confined just within the four walls of class room. The UGC and Education Ministry are trying its level best to change the higher education scenario of the country by undertaking various programmes over the years. 

Professor Yousuf Ali Mollah, in his presidential speech urged the Sub-Project Managers to be committed and dedicated in implementation of the sub-projects.

A total of 34 Sub Project Managers and team members from nine public and private universities of the country are participating in the workshop.
