Rangamati Science and Technology University gets 64 acres land

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Rangamati on Saturday (04 November 2017) handed over ownership document of sixty four acres of land to the UGC Chairman Professor Abdul Manna for permanent campus of Rangamati Science and Technology University at his office. Later on, UGC Chairman handed over it to Dr. Pradanendu Bikash Chakma, Vice-Chancellor, Rangamati Science and Technology University. UGC Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan was present at the ownership document handing over ceremony as the Chief Guest while DC of Rangamati Mohammad Manjarul Mannan presided over it. Professor Dr. Manik Lal Chakma, former Dean, Bangladesh Agricultral University, Tarun Kanti Ghosh, (Additional Secretery), Vice-President, CHT Development Board, high officials of Rangamati District Administration, representatives from local government and university teachers and officials were present. Located at Jagrabheel mouza the permanent campus site is about six kilometres away from the city centre. In a brief address, the UGC Chairman said it is due to the personal initiative of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina that the acquisition of the land has been possible. The Chairman announced that with the help of the local community it may be possible to shift some of the classes to the permanent campus by the middle of next year. Currently, around three hundred students are enrolled in the University and their classes are held in a local high school.
