LPU signs MoU with UGC on tertiary education
Lovely Professional University (LPU) of Jalandhar, India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh on 24 December 2018 to promote cooperation and advancement of academic, administrative and education exchange programmes between Bangladeshi universities and LPU.
As per the agreement, LPU will provide 20 scholarships for the Bangladeshi students in 2019. Besides, the university will provide short courses, academic exchange programmes and future collaborations on higher education to Bangladeshi students, teachers, educational administrators and UGC officials.
UGC Secretary Dr. Md. Khaled and LPU Assistant Director Mr. Nitesh Mahajan signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.
UGC Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan, UGC Members Professor Dr. Md. Akhter Hossain, Professor Dr. M. Shah Nowaz Ali; Dr. Sultan Mahmud Bhuyan, Director, Strategic Planning, Quality Assurance Division, Dr. Ferdous Zaman, Director, Research Support and Publication Division, Dr. AKM Shamsul Arefin, Director, Public Relations and Right to Information Division, Mr. Md. Kamal Hossain, Director, Public University Management Division and Dr. Md. Fakhrul Islam, Director, Private University Division, UGC were present.
LPU is ranked as one of the best private university in India which offers more than 200 graduate, postgraduate and doctorate programmes. At present, around 700 students from Bangladesh are studying in different programmes including engineering in LPU. Besides, 3,500 students from 70 countries around the world are studying in LPU.
LPU signed the MoU following a bilateral meeting with UGC Chairman in Panjab on 10 October 2018.
